It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Gainesville Red Elephants can now relate to. They fell just short of the War Eagles by a score of 20-17. Gainesville's defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Smith Mcgarvey threw for 87 yards on four of nine attempts. Marceil Henfield was his top target, picking up 59 receiving yards. On the ground, Gavin Hall rushed for 52 yards on only five carries.
Gainesville's defeat dropped their record down to 12-1. As for Woodward Academy, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Gainesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Woodward Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against Douglas County at 8:00 p.m. on December 1st. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Douglas County: 13.3, Woodward Academy: 10.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
