Glencoe is 0-3 against Jacksonville since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Glencoe Yellowjackets will jump right back in to play the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 10:30 a.m. Glencoe is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
On Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Glencoe beat Douglas 46-40.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Glencoe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Autumn Greene, who scored four points along with six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alli Jo Amos, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Springville. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jacksonville in their matchups with Springville: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Jacksonville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alexis Phillips, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Phillips' third in a row with at least ten points. Jayci Taylor was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Glencoe's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Jacksonville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Thursday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Glencoe have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 32.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Jacksonville struggles in that department as they've nailed 37.9% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Glencoe lost to Jacksonville on the road by a decisive 49-35 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Can Glencoe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
