It was a good run, but Mansfield Summit unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 25-20 to the Argyle Eagles. Defeat or not, Mansfield Summit got some senior leadership from Ian Gebhardt and Adarion Nettles. Nettles' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 105 rushing yards. Mansfield Summit also got help from Domonique(Dj) Young, who showed off his sure hands for 101 receiving yards.
Argyle's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maguire Gasperson, who threw for 220 yards while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground.
Mansfield Summit's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Argyle, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Looking ahead, Mansfield Summit will square off against Colleyville Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.14 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
