Softball Recap: Fruitvale Takes a Loss

Fruitvale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to the Detroit Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 on Thursday.

Kyla Bain put in work no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Fruitvale's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14-1. As for Detroit, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-5.

While Fruitvale had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
