There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. The action included a dizzyingly high 101-point combined score from Riverview Sarasota and Riverview.
Can't Touch This
Venice's 56 - 28 win over Palmetto last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Brandon Gregory. Gregory earned five touchdowns and 181 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Gregory one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Movin on Up
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Clearwater Academy International last week (their 9th in a row). It took its game against Superior Collegiate by a confident 46 - 14 score. The win took its toll on the QB, however, as he was sacked 6.5 times. Clearwater Academy International's success was rewarded with a eight-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Plant City (10th in the power rankings) and Tampa Bay Tech (13th) did not disappoint. Plant City had just enough, edging out Tampa Bay Tech 24 - 21. One of the main ringleaders for Plant City was junior Zamir' Knighten, who picked up 178 yards on the ground.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 101-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Riverview Sarasota came up short against Riverview, falling 56 - 45. Riverview Sarasota fell despite improving upon an already solid 24-point performance the game before.
