The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (Grace Baptist Academy is ranked 98th in Mississippi, while Evangel Christian is ranked 79th in Alabama).
Grace Baptist Academy pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lighthouse Private Christian Academy.
Meanwhile, Evangel Christian came tearing into last Monday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against East Central HomeSchool as Evangel Christian made off with a 70-44 win. Evangel Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Evangel Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cade Joiner, who scored 17 points, and Owen Bugnar, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Joiner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Black, who scored 11 points.
Grace Baptist Academy's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7. As for Evangel Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.
