East Pennsboro put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Milton Hershey Spartans as they made off with an 11-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-4 back in April.
Aaron Angelo and Steel Bayer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Angelo pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bayer pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Angelo went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Bayer went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Niko Thalassinos looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
Back at the plate, Lucas Martz was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Smith, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
East Pennsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
East Pennsboro's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Milton Hershey, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Looking ahead, East Pennsboro will take on Camp Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Milton Hershey, they will challenge Trinity at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Shamrocks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
