The Covington Trojans waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fountain Central and snuck past 47-44. This was payback for Covington, who suffered a 37-32 loss the last time these two teams met.
Coye Ferguson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Curt Slider was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Fountain Central still got an impressive performance from Will Harmon, who scored 29 points along with two steals. Harmon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaac Gayler, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds.
Covington now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Fountain Central, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Covington will head out on the road to face off against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fountain Central, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Hornets at 2:30 p.m. Rossville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Mustangs like a good challenge.
