Basketball Recap: Governor Livingston's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Governor Livingston had to endure an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past the Dayton Bulldogs with a 58-53 victory on Thursday. The Highlanders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Sherman, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Sherman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Nicky Perez was another key player, putting up seven points and six assists.

Governor Livingston's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Dayton, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Governor Livingston won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cranford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dayton, they will face off against Roselle Park at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dayton is facing Roselle Park at the right time seeing as Roselle Park is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
