Cardinal Gibbons found their leader in underclassman Gannon Jones, who threw for 242 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes. Jones has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chet Yardley, who picked up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Cardinal Gibbons' victory was their fifth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 9-2. As for Overhills, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Cardinal Gibbons will look to defend their home field on Friday against Millbrook at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Millbrook is ranked 24th, while Cardinal Gibbons is ranked 21st). Overhills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
