7A District 6 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Osceola's STAFON McCRAY recorded the longest rushing play in 7A District 6 this season in his game against East Ridge last week. McCRAY's team topped the Knight as he sprinted for 61 yards on the play and finished with 139 in all.
Gateway moved up to 251 from 360 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of a 20-0 win over Eau Gallie.
Osceola's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. DAEQUAN HARRISON threw for 64 and two touchdowns and SANTIAGO HOFFMAN had 36 yards receiving. McCRAY helped Osceola's passing attack out by catching one ball for 18 yards.
Celebration's William Santry and Johnny Victor have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Santry has thrown for 564 yards this season, while Victor, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has eight catches for 267 yards. McCRAY from Doug Nichols's team leads the league in rushing with 525 yards.
A big matchup in 7A District 6 this week will be when St. Cloud takes on the Kowboys. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in third, while Osceola is in first.
The Kowboys extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating East Ridge, 48-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
