After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hartselle, Austin was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed past the Decatur Red Raiders to the tune of 47-6. Given the Black Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 135th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Austin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Qadir Lyle, who rushed for 41 yards and one TD, and also threw for 247 yards while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt. What's more, Lyle racked up 82.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Austin also got a significant boost from Aidan Davis, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
Austin's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.
