If The Birdville Hawks were riding high off their 41-0 takedown of the Sunset Bison last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Birdville suffered a rough 42-18 loss at the hands of Richland on Friday. While losing is never fun, Birdville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 484th, while Richland is ranked 148th).
Although Birdville took the loss, they still got scores from Brian Kent and Noah Normand.
Richland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Turner, who rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Turner is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Kates, who rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown.
Birdville has fallen quite a ways from their 8-3 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Richland, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Birdville will head out on the road to face off against Adams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Richland, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mansfield Timberview at 7:00 p.m. Mansfield Timberview is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
