The Arizona College Prep Knights suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Poston Butte by a score of 48-45. Arizona College Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Poston Butte apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played two weeks ago.
Arizona College Prep lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dominik Berumen, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Asher Perez, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Poston Butte's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jude Ramirez led the charge by scoring 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dutch Martinez, who scored 12 points.
Arizona College Prep dropped their record down to 17-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Poston Butte, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-13.
Arizona College Prep will face off against Eastmark at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Eastmark focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Poston Butte, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against American Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m.
