Softball Recap: Belmont Has No Trouble Against Wayland

Belmont can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. Everything went their way against the Wayland Warriors as they made off with a 13-1 victory. The Marauders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Olivia Ormond made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with seven stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those seven stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Amelia Ormond and Josie Kim did most of the damage at the plate: Amelia went 2-for-3 with eight stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while Kim got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave Kim a new career-high. Elsie Lakin-Shultz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Belmont's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Wayland, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belmont will welcome Westport at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wayland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Newton South at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
