Lebanon is 7-2 against the Sparkplugs since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Lebanon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
Lebanon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak. They were beaten by Plainfield 71-42. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lebanon has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Bryce Jones, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Colton Pollard, who scored eight points.
Lebanon struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Speedway struggled with assists on Saturday (the Cadets had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Speedway lost to the Cadets on the road by a decisive 62-48 margin. Speedway has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Lebanon, Speedway lost despite seeing results from several players. Drew Matelic led the charge by scoring 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Short, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Lebanon's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8. Speedway's record now sits at 6-8.
Saturday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kaden Lark and Cam Reich. Lark has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 20.6 points and 2.7 steals. For his part, Reich has averaged 19.5 points, 2.5 steals, and 6.4 rebounds.
Everything came up roses for Lebanon against the Sparkplugs when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 78-42 win. Does Lebanon have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sparkplugs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
