The Middletown Christian Eagles couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were the victim of a tough 65-44 loss at the hands of Thurgood Marshall on Saturday.
Thurgood Marshall's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samarra Gibson, who scored 21 points along with 7 steals. Gibson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ma?Kayla Williams, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Middletown Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Thurgood Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Middletown Christian will head out on the road to face off against Bradford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thurgood Marshall, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Belmont at 7:00 p.m.
