The Green Hope Falcons will be playing at home against the Green Level Gators at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Green Hope will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Green Level is ranked 64th).
On Tuesday, Green Hope was beaten by Panther Creek 73-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Green Hope in their matchups with Panther Creek: they've now lost nine in a row.
Abigail Brown put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. That was a full 45% of Green Hope's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mel Mydosh, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Green Level was able to grind out a solid victory over Cary on Friday, taking the game 54-45.
Green Level's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Claire Barber, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 3 assists, and Deana Prasad, who scored 25 points along with seven steals and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Prasad has scored at least a third of Green Level's points. Stella Eckhart was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four steals.
Green Hope has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Green Level, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Green Hope have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Green Level struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
