Charlottesville gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Culpeper County Blue Devils. The Black Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blue Devils, too.
Andrew Cullinan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Cullinan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other pitching news, Julian Mark-Williams looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Abe Jaspen was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cabell Rose, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Culpeper County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
