Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Nederland Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 53-6 loss at the hands of Lake Creek. Nederland's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Lake Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyvonn Byars, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Elijah Naziruddin was another key contributor, gaining 119 total yards and three touchdowns.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Lake Creek, racking up 13 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Alex Abbott: he added nine points with three field goals, and another four kicking extra points.
Nederland has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Lake Creek, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Nederland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lake Creek will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Crockett at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Crockett will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 567th, while Lake Creek is ranked 54th).
