Montgomery Academy has gone a perfect 3-0 against Slocomb recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Red Tops at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Montgomery Academy barely beat Trinity Presbyterian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles blew past the Wildcats 38-12 on Friday. Considering the Eagles have won four contests by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Montgomery Academy found their leader in sophomore Reid McBride, who threw for 259 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 70 yards on only seven carries. Those five passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for McBride. Montgomery Academy's leading receiver Jarrett Friendly was McBride's top target yet again, picking up 110 receiving yards and one TD.
One reason for the win was Montgomery Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was John Bennett Lester with two. Another thorn in Trinity Presbyterian's side was Braden Gordon, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Slocomb played in-conference for the first time on Friday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top against Northside Methodist Academy by a score of 37-25. The victory continues a trend for the Red Tops in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.
Montgomery Academy better keep an eye on Weston Sasser. He was instrumental in Slocomb's win, rushing for 51 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 98 yards and one touchdown on only nine passes. Those 51 rushing yards gave Sasser a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayes Hatton, who rushed for 109 yards on only 15 carries.
Slocomb was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Montgomery Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Slocomb, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Montgomery Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 160.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Slocomb struggles in that department as they've been averaging 155.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Montgomery Academy against Slocomb in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-12 win. In that contest, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 43-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
