Williams and Southern Alamance are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2015, but not for long. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Williams is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Graham for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-6 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-0.
Williams had a senior duo take command as Amarion Richmond rushed for 91 yards and a pair of TDs and Kyrian Fuller rushed for 65 yards and one touchdown. Jazian Bigelow was in the mix as well, providing the Bulldogs with two scores.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Williams, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Bubba Sims, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Southern Alamance was able to grind out a solid win over Eastern Alamance last Friday, taking the game 28-15.
Southern Alamance found their leader in sophomore Sincere Thompson, who rushed for 165 yards and two TDs. Thompson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 127 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Alexander, who rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.
Southern Alamance was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 164 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Southern Alamance didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Cj McAdoo.
Williams' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Southern Alamance, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Williams has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Southern Alamance struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 281.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Williams was able to grind out a solid win over Southern Alamance when the teams last played back in September of 2024, winning 38-29. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
