The Issaquah Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Liberty Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Issaquah is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Eastmont, who was ranked 19th at the time (Issaquah was ranked first). The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Wildcats on Saturday. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Shae Erickson (2027) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Abby Cleveland (2026) was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Adelyn Wimberly (2026) also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They blew past Highline 19-9 on Saturday. The Patriots not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15th.
Avery Huh made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 1.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Liberty got a massive performance out of Berlyn Crockett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Crockett has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emi Connell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highline only posted an OBP of .407.
Liberty's record is now 7-4. As for Issaquah, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Issaquah hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Issaquah's way against Liberty in their previous matchup back in March, as Issaquah made off with a 9-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
