4A District 7 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Highlands extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 7 this week by beating Harrison County, 69-10. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Holmes and Newport Central Catholic played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Holmes eventually emerging with a 12-7 victory.
The Thorobreds' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Robbie Stroub threw for 71 yards and Justin Hunter had 32 yards receiving. On the ground Zach Mastin chipped in 70 yards. Eli Gross helped Harrison County's passing attack out by catching two balls for 30 yards.
Harrison County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Thorobreds feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Stroub has thrown for 425 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Terrell Roberts has 10 catches for 205 yards. Deshon Talbott leads the league in rushing with 376 yards.
A big matchup in 4A District 7 this week will be when Highlands takes on Pendleton County. As it stands, Dale Mueller's team is in first, while the Wildcats are in fourth.
Harrison County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,835 from 11,017. The improvement came about via a 69-10 victory over Mark Carroll's team last week.
