Despite the defeat, Greene Central saw an underclassman step up: Denelly Coppedge almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Coppedge is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. Deitrich Williams was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
Jamez Simmons was a one-man wrecking crew for West Craven as he scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amari Boomer, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Greene Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for West Craven, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Greene Central will head out on the road to challenge Ayden - Grifton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Ayden - Grifton is ranked 327th, while Greene Central is ranked 320th). As for West Craven, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Farmville Central at 7:30 p.m. Farmville Central will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something West Craven surely won't give up without a fight.
