Basketball Recap: Collierville Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

There's no place like home for Collierville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They snuck past the Houston Mustangs with a 48-43 win on Friday. The Dragons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Collierville was led to victory by Hilary Shikuku and Bailey Thornton. Shikuku went 8 for 15 en route to 18 points and five rebounds, while Thornton dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Thornton a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Caroline Sheals, who posted 11 points.

Collierville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caidyn Sanders, who had 11 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckenzie Percoski, who earned 13 points and six boards.

Collierville has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Houston, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

Collierville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-46 victory against Pontotoc on the 18th. Houston has also already played their next contest, a 62-46 win against Southwind on the 21st.
