Clearfield and the Royals are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Clearfield Falcons will be playing at home against the Roy Royals at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Clearfield beat the Wildcats 38-31. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Clearfield.
Clearfield can attribute much of their success to Xiyah Yarbrough, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Isabelle Wyaskett, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Wyaskett is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Julia Smith, who scored two points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Roy can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bonneville and snuck past 44-41.
Roy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nicole Williams led the charge by scoring nine points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Jones, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Clearfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which somehow isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season. As for Roy, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.
Clearfield was able to grind out a solid victory over the Royals when the teams last played back in January, winning 45-36. Does Clearfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
