Nixa had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took down the Helias Crusaders 45-28 on Friday. The Eagles' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Nixa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam McKnight, who rushed for 92 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries, and also threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns on perfect 11-for-11 passing. That's the most rushing yards McKnight has posted since back in September. Jayden McCaster helped out on the ground, rushing for 135 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Nixa's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Max Gredell, Wyatt Isaacson, and Urban Arnold, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Nixa's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Helias, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.
Looking ahead, Nixa will take on Pattonville at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. The Eagles will be up against the Pirates' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.27 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Helias does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
