The Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 59-22 loss at the hands of Fountain-Fort Carson. Cheyenne Mountain has not had much luck with Fountain-Fort Carson recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Cheyenne Mountain still got an impressive performance from Ainsley Norton, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Norton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cheyenne Mountain struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fountain-Fort Carson racked up 13 assists.
Fountain-Fort Carson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dessirae Ulmer out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Ulmer is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Cheyenne Mountain has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheyenne Mountain will take on Lewis-Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lewis-Palmer is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they will play host again and welcome Vista Ridge, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vista Ridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
