Iowa stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 67-45 margin over Lake Charles College Prep. Given Iowa's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Trailblazers are ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Louis Catholic has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Charles College Prep on Tuesday. St. Louis Catholic has struggled against the Trailblazers recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Iowa pushed their record up to 26-3 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for St. Louis Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.
Everything came up roses for Iowa against the Saints in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 71-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Iowa since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
