For the first time this season, Uintah will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to face off against the Summit Academy Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Uintah has three straight wins, Summit Academy has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Uintah barely beat Union the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Utes were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Cougars on Tuesday. Eight seems to be a good number for the Utes as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Lynlie Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kynlee Bristol, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Addysen Hall, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Summit Academy couldn't beat West on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Bears lost 23-7 to the Panthers.
Harley Davies stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Sylvia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases.
Uintah's win bumped their record up to 9-2-1. As for Summit Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Uintah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. However, it's not like Summit Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .589. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
