The New Prairie Cougars were the 42-41 winner over the Bremen Lions when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. New Prairie was beaten by Bremen 62-32 on Friday. While losing is never fun, New Prairie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Bremen is ranked 128th).
Despite the loss, New Prairie still got an impressive performance from Reece Lapczynski, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Lapczynski set a new season high mark in rebounds with five.
Chase Devine was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five steals for Bremen. Devine set a new season high mark in steals with five. Another player making a difference was Tyrus Graverson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals.
New Prairie bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bremen, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
New Prairie will be playing at home against Oregon-Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oregon-Davis is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Bremen, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakeland Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland Christian Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
