Softball Recap: Troy Has No Trouble Against Sidney

Troy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Sidney on Monday. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Yellowjackets. Considering the Trojans have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexis Ater was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Amayah Kennedy was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Troy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Troy pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sidney, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's still a better percentage than their 4-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will head out to take on Tippecanoe at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sidney, they will venture away from home to face off against West Carrollton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
