The Geneva Panthers stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They blew past Geneva County 56-27 on the road. Given Geneva's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Geneva's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Simone Minnifield led the charge by scoring nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Ward, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Geneva has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Geneva County, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Geneva will take on the Red Tops at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Slocomb has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14. As for Geneva County, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
