The Dallas Christian Chargers will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Covenant Knights at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dallas Christian has nine straight wins, the Knights have 23 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Dallas Christian put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 50-21 win over All Saints Episcopal on the road. Given Dallas Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Trojans are ranked 1140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dallas Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackie Schlegel, who scored 17 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Macie Perkins was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Covenant ended up a good deal behind the Trojans on Friday and lost 33-18.
Dallas Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Covenant, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.
Everything came up roses for Dallas Christian against the Knights when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 65-11 win. With Dallas Christian ahead 33-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
