Even though the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane scored an imposing 65 points on Saturday, the Coffee Trojans still came out on top. Coffee snuck past Fitzgerald with a 71-65 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Coffee.
Junitho Benson was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Coffee's points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Bazell, who scored 12 points.
Coffee's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Fitzgerald, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Coffee will be playing at home against Tift County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fitzgerald will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bleckley County at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th.
