The South Rowan Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Concord Spiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Rowan is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
South Rowan pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Rowan. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Rowan in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite their loss, South Rowan saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kynlee Dextraze, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Hannah Atwell was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists.
Concord won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They took a serious blow against West Rowan, falling 106-30. While losing is never fun, Concord can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while the Falcons are ranked 30th).
South Rowan has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Things could have been worse for South Rowan, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-50 loss to the Spiders when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Concord's Myajah Nix, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Now that South Rowan knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
