On Friday, the Dixie Flyers faced the Pine View Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dixie walked away with a 61-50 victory over Pine View. That's another feather in the cap for Dixie, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Kyle Lemke, who almost dropped a triple-double on 29 points, 13 rebounds, and nine blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Breckon Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Pine View's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Griffen Shepherd, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Schroeder, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Dixie's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Pine View, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
Dixie will take on Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Snow Canyon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Dixie is ranked fourth). As for Pine View, they will head out on the road to face off against Cedar at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cedar is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
