North East is 1-9 against Harbor Creek since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North East Grape Pickers will be home for the holidays to greet the Harbor Creek Huskies at 7:15 p.m. North East is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Last Tuesday, North East beat Fort LeBoeuf 55-44. Given North East's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Fort LeBoeuf is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Harbor Creek struggled with assists on Tuesday (Warren had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Harbor Creek suffered a tough 67-47 loss at the hands of Warren. The loss was Harbor Creek's first of the season.
The losing side was boosted by Braylen Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. He scored a full 46.8% of Harbor Creek's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ben Mozdy was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Harbor Creek were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
North East's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Harbor Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
North East ended up a good deal behind Harbor Creek when the teams last played back in December of 2022, losing 50-35. Thankfully for North East, Nick Krahe (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
