The West Orange Warriors and the Colonial Grenadiers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. West Orange will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Colonial is ranked fourth).
After a string of four wins, West Orange's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were beaten by Winter Haven 70-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat West Orange has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Colonial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They managed a 51-46 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. The victory was familiar territory for Colonial who now have 13 in a row.
Colonial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasmynne Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Carmen Richardson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
West Orange's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Colonial, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.
West Orange was dealt a bruising 67-27 loss at the hands of Colonial in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Orange was down 41-16.
