The Bishop's Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Tri-City Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bishop's 3.9, Tri-City Christian 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Bishop's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against La Jolla Country Day as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Bailey Brightenburg was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Yao, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bishop's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Tri-City Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Coastal Academy on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Stingrays by a score of 14-13. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this game were averaging 3.33 runs allowed.
Abby Lisak was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaedyn Ybarra, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
With the defeat, Tri-City Christian broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-4-1. As for Bishop's, their record now sits at 10-6-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Bishop's has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Tri-City Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bishop's couldn't quite get it done against Tri-City Christian when the teams last played back in April as they fell 7-4. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
