Softball Recap: Hilltop Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Hilltop had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Blissfield Royals with a sharp 8-2 victory. Considering the Cadets have won 16 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Giada Rising spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isabella Ackley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsy Connolly, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Hilltop's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Blissfield, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hilltop beat the Royals by a score of 16-0 later that day.
