Riverton is 9-1 against Rock Springs since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Riverton Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Rock Springs Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Riverton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Rock Springs likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Riverton faced Cody in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Riverton walked away with a 58-48 victory over Cody.
Riverton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Paxton out in front who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 0 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Paxton has scored at least a third of Riverton's points. Another player making a difference was Darrick DeVries, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Rock Springs' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 73-60 defeat to Central. Rock Springs has not had much luck with Central recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
The win got Riverton back to even at 6-6. As for Rock Springs, they bumped their record down to 3-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Riverton was able to grind out a solid win over Rock Springs in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 54-41. Does Riverton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rock Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
