The South Plantation Paladins''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their tough 30-9 defeat to Nova might stick with them for a while. South Plantation gained 59 more yards on the day, but it was Nova that made the best of use of them.
Sakib Muhammad rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Dylan Zaldumbide was his top target, picking up 73 receiving yards.
Branden Natson was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 81 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Erik Mccall jr made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The team's defense also helped out by holding South Plantation to a paltry 242 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Nova's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Djuvens "dj" ambroise and his two sacks.
South Plantation has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Nova, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
South Plantation will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Bay presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Plantation in Florida (Cypress Bay is ranked 161st, while South Plantation is ranked 438th). As for Nova, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dr. Joaquin Garcia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dr. Joaquin Garcia comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
