Basketball Recap: Pine Crest Skates Past Spanish River with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Miami Country Day, Pine Crest was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Spanish River Sharks, posting a 65-35 victory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.

Pine Crest was led to victory by Franky Garfi and Isabella Sangha. Garfi dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards, while Sangha dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Garfi a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Natasha Sangha, who posted eight points.

Pine Crest was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Spanish River had strong showings from Ellie Neuman, who had five points and 12 rebounds, and Briella DaSilva, who put up 12 points. Neuman has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played.

Pine Crest is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points per game. As for Spanish River, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
