Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post 16 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Bellevue West Thunderbirds proved on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lincoln 72-33 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 57-12.
Bellevue West had a senior duo take command as Ahnica Russell-Brown scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds and Naomi White scored 18 points. The matchup was White's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Muller, who scored nine points.
Lincoln's loss came despite strong showings from Kamryn Hamilton and Addie Naughton. Hamilton scored five points, while Naughton scored six points.
Lincoln struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bellevue West has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Lincoln, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-4.
Bellevue West will take on Skutt Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skutt Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Bellevue West likes a good challenge. As for Lincoln, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Heelan Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
