The Alchesay Falcons pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hopi. While losing is never fun, Alchesay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Hopi is ranked 87th).
Chauncey Newhall and Brent Aday certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Newhall scored 20 points, while Aday scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Alchesay are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Hopi, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Alchesay will take on St. Michael at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. St. Michael comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Hopi, they will head out on the road to face off against Greyhills Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
