Softball Recap: Argonaut Extends Winning Streak to Five

Argonaut won against El Dorado last Wednesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Mustangs didn't even let the Cougars on the board, marking the Mustangs' second-straight 11-0 shutout. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Hailey Dewald, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep El Dorado off the board. Dewald has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, AJ Schultz was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Baker, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

The win was the fifth in a row for Argonaut, bringing their record up to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for El Dorado, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Argonaut will challenge Calaveras at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for El Dorado, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rosemont at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
