Calvert Hall and Glenelg Country are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Calvert Hall Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Glenelg Country Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Calvert Hall pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Boys Latin 61-56.
Despite the loss, Calvert Hall had strong showings from Tyrin Bizzelle, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds, and Brendan Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bizzelle pulled down eight or more rebounds. JT Taggart was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Glenelg Country came up short against Archbishop Spalding on Thursday and fell 61-53. While losing is never fun, Glenelg Country can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Archbishop Spalding is ranked 25th).
Calvert Hall's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Glenelg Country, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Calvert Hall didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Glenelg Country in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory.
