It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Jesuit Tigers can now relate to. They took a 31-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cowboys on Friday. Jesuit's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Jesuit's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Griffin, who threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Thurman, who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Gaither got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayce Nixon out in front who rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 187 yards and a touchdown. Elija Mason was another key contributor, rushing for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Jesuit's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Gaither, the last time they lost on the road was back back in October. Having now won five straight away contests, they've pushed their record up to 8-5.
Jesuit does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gaither will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. St. Thomas Aquinas' defense has only allowed 8.8 points per game this season, so Gaither's offense will have their work cut out for Gaither.
